Inspired by Nature workshop at Studio Katja Gruijters

Coulisse, global market leader in smart window decoration, recently visited Studio Katja Gruijters for an exciting company outing, the Inspired by Nature workshop. This workshop is part of an ongoing series of workshops in which participants reconnect with nature with all of their senses.

Our workshops follow the rhythm of the seasons and use seasonal ingredients and materials from the Veluwezoom forest. Participants are invited to experience the circularity of nature and discover how natural ecosystems, from small to large, can inspire sustainable practices in business and everyday life.

The Coulisse company outing

The Coulisse team was warmly welcomed with coffee and tea in the studio’s sunlit garden in De Steeg. The day began with an inspiring presentation by Katja, with the key question: why is nature such an important source of inspiration for design, health and sustainability?

Equipped with a ‘survival toolkit’ containing a magnifying glass, clay, tweezers and a notebook, the team set off into the woods for a special exploration. They zoomed in on the smallest details, collected natural materials and put together personal collections.

Back in the studio, the group analysed and identified the collected items, which led to interesting conversations and the exchange of valuable insights.

In the afternoon, the team worked together in smaller groups to prepare seasonal culinary creations: wild nettle pesto (including designing personalised labels for their jars!), dandelion cookies, and herb-infused nettle crackers. A delightful combination of creativity, nature, and taste.

The day ended with a joint tasting session: fresh bread with nettle pesto, dandelion cookies and a refreshing mocktail made from magnolia syrup and fresh fruit – the perfect end to a day full of nature, creativity and meaningful connections.
